I'm an admin on a Windows 7 PRO 64 bit
Problem is I can't set an image for my wallpaper or I can't change my wallpaper
I did a sysprep on a ref machine and since reloading the image(with imagex) I can't change the background, it's black and there is no way to set an image as a background, tried all procedure from microsoft not one works, when I go in personalization i can see the different background picture and when I select it i see the changes happening in the personalization window but the background doesn't change.
I can change the color of the background and taskbar but the background picture doesn't change, tried bmp's and jpg's still same issue

The only way I can set a picture is by using the Policies : user config / admin templates / Desktop / Desktop / Wallpaper (path ay differ I translated from french)

Also tried to use the registry... not working (still i activated Active Desktop to make sure)
Tried The ease of access to make sure all settings are ok,... they are

The only thing I can see is when I prepared the system for sysprep I renamed the customized profile to be the default profile
and did my sysprep and maybe the problem is there but what is it ?

Any advice would be appreciated

It seems like the issue you are facing with setting a wallpaper on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit after reloading the image could be related to the default profile configuration. Renaming the customized profile to be the default profile during sysprep might have caused some settings to conflict or not apply correctly. Here are some steps and suggestions you can try to troubleshoot and resolve this wallpaper issue:

Steps to Resolve Wallpaper Issue on Windows 7 Pro:

  1. Check Default Profile Settings:
    • Verify the settings in the default profile. Make sure that there are no conflicting settings preventing the wallpaper from being changed.

Steps to Resolve Wallpaper Issue on Windows 7 Pro:

  1. Check Default Profile Settings:
    • Verify the settings in the default profile. Make sure that there are no conflicting settings preventing the wallpaper from being changed.
    []Reset Default Profile:
    • If possible, try resetting the default profile to its original state before the sysprep. This may help in resolving any conflicts caused by the renaming.
    [
    ]Check Group Policy Settings:
    • Since you mentioned that using Group Policy settings works for setting a wallpaper, ensure there are no conflicting policies affecting the wallpaper setting.
    []Registry Settings:
    • Check the registry settings related to wallpaper configurations. Make sure the values are correctly set. You can try modifying the settings manually or through scripts.
    [
    ]Folder Permissions:
    • Confirm that the user account has the necessary permissions to access and modify the wallpaper folders. Incorrect permissions can sometimes prevent wallpaper changes.
    []System File Integrity:
    • Run a system file check to ensure that all system files are intact. Any corrupted system files can lead to unusual behavior like the wallpaper not changing.
    [
    ]Third-Party Software Conflicts:
    • Check for any third-party software that might be conflicting with the wallpaper settings. Disable any such software temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.
    []User Profiles:
    • Create a new user profile to test if the wallpaper can be set successfully for a new user. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the user profile itself.
    [
    ]Restore Point:
    • If possible, consider restoring the system to a point before the sysprep process to see if the wallpaper issue existed before that customization.
  2. Update Windows:
    • Ensure that Windows is up to date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, a Windows update can resolve issues related to system settings. If after trying these steps the issue persists, it might be helpful to investigate further into the specific changes made during the sysprep process and how they might be affecting the wallpaper settings. Let me know if you need more specific instructions on any of the steps or if you encounter any issues while trying these solutions.
