Windows 10 Upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows 10

Running 32-bit Windows 10 Pro with 4GB RAM, and planning to move to 64-bit Windows. Primarily so I can add some more RAM.

Do I need just to install a 64-bit version over the current 32-bit installation (which has all the current updates, except the latest September 2017 Redstone 3 version) ?

Or, do I need to do a clean install of 64-bit Windows ?

Would appreciate help on this. Thanks.

Hi,
you cannot 'upgrade' to 64bit and you'll need to do a custom or clean install of Windows. Also don't forget when it comes to activation simply click 'I don't have one' when asked for a key as you'll activate automatically online.

You can obtain the latest flavour (Fall Creator's update) of Windows using the Media creation tool found here:
Download Windows 10

Thanks very much. I was just hoping there's some kind of way without having to reinstall all my software ! :)
