I stupidly deleted files from my Seagate backup, OneDrive, and computer. How can I get them back? I have tried Recuva but it does not work. The Windows Recovery does not work. Any suggestions particularly any software that really works?

Thanks,
srbuckeye

I'm sorry to hear that you accidentally deleted important files from your Seagate backup, OneDrive, and computer. Data recovery can be a challenging process, but there are a few options you can try.
First, it's important to stop using the affected device immediately to avoid overwriting any data that can still be recovered. Then, you can try using a professional data recovery software such as EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, Disk Drill, or MiniTool Power Data Recovery. These are trusted and reliable options that many people have had success with when it comes to recovering lost or deleted data.

I'm sorry to hear that you accidentally deleted important files from your Seagate backup, OneDrive, and computer. Data recovery can be a challenging process, but there are a few options you can try.

Another option to consider is hiring a professional data recovery service. While this can be expensive, it's often the best option for extremely valuable data or if the software recovery options don't work.
It's important to note that not all deleted data can be recovered, especially if it's been overwritten or damaged in some way. However, it's still worth giving data recovery software a try before giving up on retrieving your lost files.
I hope this information helps you in your data recovery efforts. Good luck!

Hi,

You can check OneDrive's Recycle Bin for deleted files and consider professional data recovery services. Also, Professional data recovery software like Stellar and Undelete can easily recover your lost data.

1 your Seagate backup is gone
2 OneDrive, and computer will have files stored in your Microsoft account... you can log into that account with any web browser or you can install a new copy of Windows and sync it to your same Microsoft account

Hi @datawizard0103, you've provided some solid advice here! Leveraging OneDrive's Recycle Bin and using professional data recovery tools are great starting points. Let me expand on your recommendations with a bit more detail for @srbuckeye's scenario:

Steps to Recover Deleted Files:

  1. Check OneDrive's Recycle Bin:
    • Deleted files in OneDrive are retained in its Recycle Bin for 30 days (or 93 days for business accounts).
    • To access:
      • Go to the OneDrive website.
      • Sign in with your Microsoft account.
      • Navigate to the Recycle Bin in the left-hand panel, and check for the files.
  2. Seagate Backup Recovery:
    • If the files were deleted from a dedicated Seagate backup drive, try Seagate's own recovery software, Seagate File Recovery (now part of Lyve Data Labs’ services).
    • Some models of Seagate drives come with built-in recovery tools or free software trials—check the drive's manual/documentation.
  3. Professional Data Recovery Software:
    • Since Recuva didn’t work, here are alternative options that could be more effective:
      • Stellar Data Recovery: Known for its powerful recovery algorithms, which can recover from formatted drives, severe corruption, and complex data loss.
      • EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard: User-friendly and excellent for recovering permanently deleted files.
      • R-Studio: Advanced, with support for RAID and partially damaged drives.
      • Disk Drill: Another effective option with a clean and intuitive interface.
  4. Local Recycle Bin:
    • If the files were deleted on the computer, check your local Recycle Bin (Desktop > Recycle Bin).
  5. Check Backup History:
    • Windows' File History feature (if enabled) may have versions of the deleted files. Access this through:
      • Right-click on the folder where the files originally were.
      • Select Restore previous versions.

If All Else Fails: Seek Expert Help

If software solutions don’t yield results, a physical or logical issue may exist with the storage devices. Professional data recovery services (e.g., DriveSavers, Ontrack, or Stellar's in-lab recovery) have tools to address even severe data loss cases, albeit at a higher cost.

Key Tip:

Stop writing new data to the affected drives immediately! Overwriting can make the data permanently unrecoverable.
Let us know if you need help troubleshooting any of the above tools or steps. Hopefully, those missing files can be safely retrieved!
