i have drive with two partition, C working fine, D is system reserve

E put following problem

chkdsk report is attatched

after chkdsk E drive show no label and ask to format when try to open

what to do

Chkdsk was executed in read/write mode.

Checking file system on E:
The type of the file system is NTFS.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Chkdsk may run if this volume is dismounted first.
ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.
Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N) Volume dismounted. All opened handles to this volume are now invalid.
Volume label is Mash up.

Chkdsk will normally run when you restart your system to make sure the partition is not in use. But it looks like there is some corruption in some of your video files.

Are you running (Dual Booting) another OS?

Are all three partitions on one drive? Why do you show a drive letter on the System Reserved partition, it is normally not identified?

Could you attach a snipping tool picture of your Disk Management window so we can see the configuration of the drive? Use the "Upload a File" option on the bottom of the reply window.

one thing to add here
i removed drive letter of system reserved, that now is no more visible
and i changed letter of E drive to D
now drive is working
but to avoid future problem what should i do?
plz suggest

I pulled this out of the report, and I suppose that is what I will also suggest....

The drive found 70 bad sectors during its self test. There are 98 weak sectors found on the disk surface.
They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk.
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.
It is recommended to backup immediately to prevent data loss.

Otherwise, if removing the drive letter helped, don't run it that way since it might be causing some specific problem during repeated boots. But just guessing.

Now dear starglass, should i go REMAP or totally replace my hard disk by purchasing new one ?
and can i restrict these sector form sector and make them usable so that the remaining part of disk may remain usefull for long time ?
by the thanks for your support

For now, I would suggest you just let it go and watch it. It appears you have helped the problem which originally caused the situation. Windows does cleanup/maintenance to drives all the time in the background. If you have your data backed up, and are doing current backups, you should be fine.

It appears you do not have S.M.A.R.T. enabled. If that is true, has it been disabled on purpose?

I have no "Blue" Drives to check, all of mine are "Black" versions. But I have no baseline for the Sentinel test you ran on your drive, so the indications you got from the test may be inline with other drives. It would be best if you could run the Western Digital Diagnostics on the drive, but if I remember, it may end up wiping the drive, which would not be good in your current situation. But whether you decide to run the diagnostic, or get a new drive, it would be good to have a complete backup image of you current install...

thanku my friends :)

i know nothing about S.M.A.R.T, have enabled/disabled, will u plz tell me where to check this ?

The S.M.A.R.T option is usually enabled or disabled in the bios. There should be a line for the drive stating such.

You can look up what SMART actually does for Hard Drives. Some drives may not be SMART compatible and I may have misunderstand the listing in you Report.

It appears to me that you have fouled up your drive partition tables by reassigning your E: drive to use your reserve partition lable of D:.

The first thing I would do as Saltgrass suggested is backup ALL of your data you can from ALL your partitions you can access to an external hard drive, flash drive, or to cd/dvd discs.

Next I would attempt to reload your Windows (you didn't say what version you were running?), preferably from the Recovery Discs that came with your Computer (you didn't mention desktop or laptop?). If that Reserve Partition you had, your D: drive was a Recovery Partition and you overwrote it by doing the Driver Letter reassignment, you'll have to hope you have those Recovery Discs or that the Utility to create those discs is still in place on your c: Windows partition. Otherwise, you may have to order the discs from the Computer manufacturer to do a reinstall.

Once you do a factory Recovery to out-of-box condition, I would suggest running the WD diagnostics *DLG--Data Life Guard* on your hard drive. Do NOT do any additional partitioning on that hard drive other than what the Recovery Disc sets up for you. If the Recovery Disc sets up 2 partitions or more, that's fine, just don't add any more such as you have now with the E: Data or D: Data partition. Make sure to run both the SHORT and EXTENDED drive tests on the DLG testing menu to completion. If you pass both tests, it's most likely your hard drive is good and you can now use normally. :D I would strongly urge you to setup that Data Partition BEFORE you begin installing and downloading any new programs into Windows! Further, you should really not keep your Data on a Data partition, but rather a 2nd drive (internal if desktop) or a usb external hard drive if it's a laptop. If your hard drive crashes on you, and it stops operating, all the Data you have saved to that "Data Partition" will be completely useless unless you have it backed up again on external media as I mention above.

Test any changes you make to the new install such as new Partioning by rebooting and testing multiple times. You should get no boots into Black & White screens and you shouldn't have to run either Checkdsk or other Windows drive testing tools. Once you get to a Clean Windows desktop and login every time (3 times in a row minimum!), you should be good to go to start reinstalling and downloading programs onto your Windows desktop and copying data into the new Data partition.

If you cannot get this, and you get anything like Overtemp warnings or Reallocated Sector Counts nonzero, or such, you most likely have a faulty or failing hard drive and need to replace it ASAP. :( If that occurs, replace the drive and follow my steps above to rebuild your Windows onto the replacement hard drive. Also, try to purchase a BRAND NEW hard drive, not a Used one--you're computer will last longer!

@Saltgrass grass my hd is caviar blue WD, it have a port of 10 pin (i think) in 2 two rwo, 5 in each row, is that smart port ?

edit note : dear i think i dont smart option on my drive, coz i have taken it out and i see 8 pin port, that is named Factory Jumper Setting :(

@BIGBEARJEDI dear sir , i am running windows 7 ultimate on my desktop, with intel DH67CL motherbord

i am thinking to make a backup all my necessary data, (from drive D, which was E earlier)

D drive wasnt a recovr drive, (as laptop have D drive of system recovey file) , my D drive was system reserve drive of 300MB which contain system file to repair( i think if i m not wrong)

so i gonna take step

1. Backup of Data
2. Run tool u mention above
3. will tell u results here :)

thanks guys for ur support

see u after i done something :)
