Hi,

I am Kishore here. I was using Windows Vista till yesterday and last evening I have installed new OS 'Windows 7' in C drive.

Now in my C drive, I have 'Windows' folder and 'windows.old'. Here, I would like to know what is the 'windows.old' folder and can I remove that folder?

Please help me in this regard.

Thanks in Advance.

Best Regards,
Kishore

You can also use it to restore data directly. It is the same file structure of the original install so you can find files or things like mailboxes that you might want to restore individually. I would advise keeping it for a period of time until you know for sure you will no longer need anything from it.

To remove it and the other hidden folders/files, use the Disk Cleanup under Accessories-System Tools and make sure to click on the "Clean up system files" so you can check them for removal.
windows.old contains data from the previous windows version. It can be deleted safely if you don't plan to restore your system to its old version.

Thanks folks for your replies......

I am planning to delete the folder in a couple of weeks once I get used to Windows 7 :)

Thanks,
Kishore
