Here is my case. I've performed a upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium couple days ago, and bought another upgrade to Professional yesterday. After I installed Professional via "Windows Anytime Upgrade", I change the product key to the "NEW" professional product key.

Question is Would I still be able to use the "Old" product key (Home Premium) to upgrade another computer?

or did I just waste that Home Premium Product Key (since I don't need 2 version of Windows 7 running on one computer)

Thanks

In your scenario, you upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional using Windows Anytime Upgrade and then changed the product key to the new Professional key. You now wonder if you can still use the old Home Premium product key to upgrade another computer. Here is how it typically works: 1. Product Key Activation: When you upgrade to a higher edition of Windows using Windows Anytime Upgrade, the old product key (Home Premium in this case) is generally no longer valid for that same machine, as the upgrade process essentially replaces the old key with the new key. 2. Use on Another Computer: The old product key (Home Premium) can still be used to activate Windows 7 on another computer if it hasn't been used already. Each license key is typically intended for use on one computer at a time. 3. Consider License Terms: It's essential to review the license terms associated with the Windows 7 Home Premium product key. If it allows for installation and activation on multiple devices, then you may be able to use it on another computer. 4. Avoid Dual Activation: It's generally not permissible to have the same product key active on multiple machines simultaneously. Doing so can lead to activation issues and licensing violations. In summary, you can likely use the old Home Premium product key to upgrade another computer as long as it has not been activated previously. However, ensure that you are compliant with the license terms of the product key to avoid any potential licensing issues.
