I am moving data from an old XP computer to a new Vista OS computer. When I try to find the folder for appdata on the Vista computer, supposedly in my user folder, I cannot find it. Is it somehow hidden, and if so, how do I view this folder?

Solution
The only one available to you in Vista is Users-Username-Appdata.
What you are attempting seems a little difficult and (I don't think) may not work. Why don't you try the "Windows easy transfer" facility. On my very first Vista installation it worked like a charm.
Do you mean program files?

No, I mean the application data files that, in XP were in the allusers/appdata folders. There is a similar name in the user folder in Vista, but I cannot see it when I go to the user folder.

When I tried to use Easy Transfer from my XP machine, the files were saved in a format which Vista did not recognize. Any tips on how to use this utility would be appreciated.

Hi derm318

Did you use the "easy transfer cable" which has been developed especially for this situation???. You will find details at:

It is a very easy process. Rather than print the whole thing again, look here:

In step 7 I used a dvd.
No cable or networking is required.
