It seems like you are experiencing issues with your Sony laptop running Windows 7 when connecting to the internet wirelessly. The symptoms you described suggest that you are able to connect to your modem wirelessly, but you are unable to access the internet once the wired connection is disconnected. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Network Adapter Settings:
    • Ensure that your wireless network adapter settings are correctly configured.
    • Make sure that the option to obtain an IP address automatically is selected.
    []Restart Modem and Router:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Network Adapter Settings:
    • Ensure that your wireless network adapter settings are correctly configured.
    • Make sure that the option to obtain an IP address automatically is selected.
    []Restart Modem and Router:
    • Power off your modem and router, wait for a few minutes, and then power them on again. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
    [
    ]Update Wireless Adapter Drivers:
    • Check if there are any updated drivers available for your wireless network adapter. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues.
    []Disable IPv6:
    • Since you mentioned that IPv6 is not working, try disabling it and see if that improves your connectivity.
    • Go to Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Right-click on your wireless adapter > Properties > Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
    [
    ]Flush DNS and Reset TCP/IP:
    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:
      Code:
ipconfig /flushdns netsh int ip reset
    []Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:
    • Sometimes, security software can block internet access. Check your firewall and antivirus settings to ensure that they are not blocking your connection.
    [
    ]Run Network Troubleshooter:
    • Windows has a built-in network troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix common connectivity issues.
      • Go to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > Network and Internet > Internet Connections.
    []Check Network Configuration:
    • Ensure that there are no conflicting network configurations. Check if the IP settings are correct for your network.
    [
    ]Reboot the Laptop:
    • Sometimes, a simple reboot of your laptop can resolve connectivity issues. If the issue persists after trying these steps, there may be a more complex network configuration issue or a hardware problem. In such cases, seeking assistance from a professional or contacting your internet service provider for further support may be necessary.
