Windows 7 Win 7 RC XP Dual Bot missing hal.dll

After using GPart to set up two partitions and installing Windows 7 RC1 everything works well in 7. However, when I attempt boot to XP I get the following error, "(windows root)\system32\hall.dll is missing or corrupt." and the system halts. My research indicates this may be a problem with the XP boot.ini file but I'm unable to edit the file. If I attempt to boot to an XP CD to get at recovery consle the boot cd does not see any hard drives attached. I'm fresh out of ideas??

I had the same issue but on a different file within system32...
I expanded and copied the file manually from my XP installation CD and it sorted itself out.
