Windows 7 Win 7 shares not accessible to media player device - MS-RAP missing?

I have posted on several forums, followed 100s of 'tips', but nothing works!

Briefly: Technisat media player can share files on Vista, Android Samba, linux-based NAS without user verification but fails to access Win7 shares with a user/password login failure (although the share is available to Everyone, and other devices can share the Win 7).

I have been told that this is because MS-RAP is deprecated and the only workaround is Xp-Mode (run a virtual OS on a virtual disc to share files - unbelievable!).

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Is there an update file to reinstate Vista-like sharing?

Sadly, there's no possibility to update the network stack on the device.

I'd appreciate any help - bear in mind I have changed all the usual registry tips for compatibility with other systems (all of which still work, yet Win7 doggedly refuses access to this one device).

I think this forum is my last hope.

Not sure if all your previous efforts have included this policy setting (actually three policy settings) regarding NTLMv2 but it might be worth a try. See attachment.

Thanks for the reply ... sadly all those settings were already as you suggested!

Here's some trace detail on the problem:

Virtual XP Mode on Windows 7:

1 0.000000 {NbtSS:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1} 192.168.178.22 192.168.178.27 SMB SMB:C; Tree Connect Andx, Path = \\VIRTUALXP-62006\IPC$, Service = ?????
2 0.000000 {NbtSS:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1} 192.168.178.27 192.168.178.22 SMB SMB:R; Tree Connect Andx, Service = IPC
3 0.000000 {SMB:4, NbtSS:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1} 192.168.178.22 192.168.178.27 RAP RAP:NetShareEnum Request, InfoLevel = 1
4 0.000000 {SMB:4, NbtSS:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1} 192.168.178.27 192.168.178.22 RAP RAP:NetShareEnum Response, Count = 4

Fail on Windows 7 with "not supported":

1 0.000000 {NbtSS:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1} 192.168.178.22 192.168.178.23 SMB SMB:C; Tree Connect Andx, Path = \\xxxNB\IPC$, Service = ?????
2 0.000000 {NbtSS:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1} 192.168.178.23 192.168.178.22 SMB SMB:R; Tree Connect Andx, Service = IPC
3 0.000000 {SMB:4, NbtSS:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1} 192.168.178.22 192.168.178.23 RAP RAP:NetShareEnum Request, InfoLevel = 1
4 0.000000 {NbtSS:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1} 192.168.178.23 192.168.178.22 SMB SMB:R; Transact - DOS OS Error, (50) NOT_SUPPORTED

Absolutely crazy ... MS should really issue an optional patch for this problem.

If you have any other ideas ....???!!!
