I was at the dentist this morning. They just switched to Windows 7 early this year and I noticed the Window 10 icon to upgrade on the PC. I warned the dentist and he thanked me. He didn't know anything about Windows 10 and thanked me for the warning. I saw the same thing at the car dealer they have Windows 8 not 8.1 and the Window 10 icon showing. This is a large dealer with multiple locations. I mentioned to a couple of people and they didn't seemed like it was important. What happens if MS slips in another auto upgrade you can't opt out of again? Many people simply use a computer and are clueless about PCs in general.

The Microsoft line is these people are happy to let Microsoft do the thinking for them... people with a clue can opt out of the updates but yes the default line is to slip them in without asking.

There is no 8 to 10 update... perhaps that one was the 8.1 upgrade?

p.s. I like 8 better than 8.1 and still run without the upgrade on my main laptop for home use.
