Here's a summary of the main changes and fixes in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27909 (Canary Channel) released on July 25, 2025:
Changes and Improvements
This update brings a small set of general improvements and fixes aimed at improving the overall experience for Insiders using this build.
Fixes
[Administrator Protection]
Fixed an issue where the Xbox app (and possibly other apps) would not launch with administrator protection enabled, previously showing errors 0xC0000142 or 0xC0000045.
[Settings]
Fixed a bug where the battery percentage was missing at the top of System > Power & Battery in recent builds.
[Remote Desktop]
Fixed severe graphical distortion and rendering problems with Remote Desktop on Arm64 PCs in recent builds.
[Other]
Fixed a high-frequency pcasvc.dll crash from the previous build.
Fixed a problem where disconnecting a device from outside Media Player would not update the device status in Media Player.
Fixed an issue causing failures in Remote Credential Guard scenarios between the latest Windows 11 builds and Server 2022 (or earlier).
Known Issues
[General]
Copilot+ PCs: If moving to Canary Channel from another channel or retail, you may lose the Windows Hello PIN and biometrics, with error 0xd0000225; you can recreate your PIN by choosing “Set up my PIN.”
Some users may encounter repeated bugchecks (KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE) after upgrading, potentially when connecting to VPN.
The Windows Vista boot sound will play instead of the Windows 11 boot sound for now, as a temporary bug.
[Settings]
Settings may crash when interacting with options under Settings > System > Power & Battery.
Some apostrophes in Settings and dialogs may display as random characters.
Reminders:
Canary Channel builds are early platform changes that may change, be removed, or never reach general release.
Features may be rolled out to only some users initially, and some may appear in other Insider channels first.
Exiting Canary Channel requires a clean install, as you cannot downgrade to a lower build number channel otherwise.
