At the moment I am trying to record a show and it won't record. Instead video just pauses and stutters. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it but PlayReady refuses to update. Since it is their DRM and I need it in order to watch or record protected content, I am thinking that is the reason. PlayReady will update if I get it off their site latest being 1.2 but if I try to update it in Windows Media Center it won't update.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with recording a show due to video pausing and stuttering, and you suspect that PlayReady not updating might be related to the problem. PlayReady is indeed essential for viewing and recording protected content due to its DRM (Digital Rights Management) functionalities. Troubleshooting PlayReady in Windows Media Center: - If PlayReady fails to update through Windows Media Center, you can try to reset PlayReady data in Windows Media Center. - To do this, you can navigate to Tasks -> Settings -> TV -> Recorder -> Update PlayReady. - Choose to remove PlayReady and then re-setup the PlayReady again. 3. Check for System and Driver Updates: - Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest updates, as well as your graphics drivers. - Outdated system components can sometimes lead to compatibility issues that result in playback and recording problems. 4. Restart and Test: - After performing the above steps, restart your computer and test whether the issue with recording and playback persists. - Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. If the problem continues even after trying these steps, please provide more details about your system setup, such as the version of Windows you're using and any other relevant software or hardware information. This will help in further diagnosing the issue and providing more targeted solutions.
