I originally upgraded from Vista to the release version of Windows 7. I've seen posts saying that it was much smarter to backup your stuff and do a clean install. Would it be wise to instead, back it all up now and just do a fresh install?

Only if you are having problems! Maybe you got lucky and things worked the way they should have in theory. I would do some searching on partitioning. I put my OS and programs on one partition and the data on a second. That way if you reinstall your OS is doesn't wipe your data, but you want it backed up in case. Windows Disk Management will handel the partitioning.

Most all of us agree that an upgrade is not the route to take. It leaves useless files on your system and can cause conflicts.

Save all you Documents, Pictures, contacts, videos, music, etc to a flash drive,

Be aware, you will need to re-install your 3rd party applications.

There is a poll going on now and "clean" install is winning by a mile,.

I noyiced you had 5 posts were you having any problems?

Well, mostly Windows Explorer was crashing alot. But other than that no

Does it still combine t to crash?

i would backup all my files before upgrading or doing a clean install to protect my files if anything goes wrong
