I recently installed windows 7 and noticed this problem. I was on the internet and a page took a little longer to load so i clicked again and it worked. After a while I went on youtube and saw that the video stopped loading a 1/4 of the way in. I was also playing Aion and it would disconnect me from the server. It's like the internet connection works for 30 secs drops for 5 and then starts up again. It has been doing this for a while, i never had this problem on vista, i thought it might have been my router so i replaced the router. Everyone else is running vista/xp at my house and they can stream videos and play games just fine.

Im running a Dell XPS M1530 laptop with an Intel Wifi Link 4965AGN

Driver Provider: Intel
Driver Date: 9/15/2009
Driver Version 13.0.0.107

I have a feeling its the driver but i cant find a newer one.

Solution
It seems like the issue you're facing with intermittent internet connectivity could indeed be related to the driver for your Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter. The driver version you mentioned, 13.0.0.107, is quite old, dating back to September 2009. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

Update the Driver:

  • Check Device Manager:
  • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Network adapters section.
  • Right-click on your Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter and select Update driver. [*Search Online for Updates:
  • During the driver update process, choose to search online for an updated driver. Windows might be able to find a newer...

Update the Driver:

  • Right-click on your Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter and select Update driver. [*Search Online for Updates:

  • Visit the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html page and run the tool to automatically detect and update your drivers.

Manual Update:

If the above methods don't work, you can manually search for and download the driver from the Intel website. Here's a general guideline on how to proceed: [*Visit Intel's Support Website:
  • Go to the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/.
  • Enter the model number (4965AGN) in the search bar to find the latest driver for your device. [*Download and Install:
  • Download the driver and install it on your system following the on-screen instructions.

Compatibility Check:

Ensure that the driver you download is compatible with Windows 7 and your specific hardware model (Dell XPS M1530).

Other Considerations:

  • Antivirus Software: Sometimes, security software can interfere with network connectivity. Temporarily disabling or configuring it might help.
  • Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest security patches and updates. After updating the driver, restart your system and check if the issue persists. Hopefully, a newer driver version will help stabilize your internet connection.
