I suddenly ran into a problem last night with sound. At first, VLC wouldn't produce any sound, although I later solved that by simply realizing it had somehow become muted in the Windows 7 volume mixer. Shortly after that, Chrome's sound also stopped working. It, too, was muted in the volume mixer, only the problem is that if I unmute it, the sound will work for a fraction of a second and it will then be muted again. Sliding the volume up and down will cause it to work, but as soon as I stop for a moment, it mutes itself again.

I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and I'm running the latest version of Chrome (8.0.552.215), although I tried reinstalling Chrome to see if that would help, to no avail. Sound works in other browsers just fine.

    ]Check Windows Sound Settings:
    • Verify that the sound settings in Windows are correctly configured. Make sure that the sound is not muted or set to a very low volume in the Windows volume mixer.
    []Update Sound Drivers:
    • Outdated or corrupted sound drivers can sometimes lead to issues with sound playback. Ensure that your sound drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to Device Manager, locating your sound device, and checking for driver updates.
