I have just upgraded to Windows 8.1. In Windows 8 I had three apps appearing on my desktop (Currency Rates, Weather and another one). After upgrading, these apps have disappeared. I like to be able to boot up to the desktop and immediately see what the weather forecast is. So far I haven't beena able to work out how to get the apps permanently onto the desktop. Can it be done?

Question, if you don't mind.
Where did you get those 3 apps from?
Win 8.1 has Finance and Weather apps. I don't see Currency app.
Did you get them from 3rd party gadgets?

The weather app is AccuWeather for Windows 8 which appears on Start. I'm not sure about the currency app, however I would have installed it from the apps store in Windows 8. I'm embarrassed to admit that I can't remember how I got them to stay permanently on the desktop in Windows 8.

The best I could do is to " pin it to task bar ".
I cannot make it displayed permanently on the desktop screen.

Thanks for your help. I guess it must be a function which existed in Windows 8 but was removed from Windows 8.1.
