Any chance of a Windows 8 development forum being here? Whether it's for general desktop development, Windows 8 store app development (XAML/HTML5/JavaScript/CSS)?

Hello AceInfinity,

to Windows 8 Forums,

I've seen you around on a few other forums, welcome aboard.

There's been discussions on some changes to be made here as to condensing some sub-forums, creating a few new ones and I would imagine a scripting/debugging forum is in view as well as development.
A member with your credentials might want to drop Mike (owner/founder/Admin) a PM for details.

Regards
Don

It's always good to explore new communities and get to know some other online members, so thankyou for the kind welcome :) I like a few of your youtube tutorials/walkthroughs that i've read here.

That sounds very nice :) Programming and development in general is a big hobby of mine, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge, experience, and content with others as well as just being able to collaborate with others of my kind also. But overall, I enjoy anything about computers, so my experience is wide spread, and I wouldn't consider myself a specialist in any area for that reason. I'm familiar with the .NET framework and libraries though :)

I may take your suggestion into consideration. I think even if others aren't interested in contributing to those forums that I'd be able to help the content in those parts. Perhaps it'll spark interest from other members as well and inspire them to start venturing into the world of programming; that's a nice accomplishment for me when I can allow others to find an interest in development. It's also cool to watch their progress along the way if they continue to participate in forum communities.

As a result of our last meeting, we decided to remodel the forums and will be doing so by January, at the latest. A long with this will no doubt come a Windows 8 Programming forum, as we seek to reduce the redundancy of too many sub-forums. Thanks for your comments. They are taken as serious feedback and some of the best changes we have made to the sites have come from member suggestions.

How about, during this restructuring process we add the "Original Poster" tag in the area adjacent to the member's avatar to track the OP within the thread as we have on the 7 site?
Thanks
Randy

Nice suggestions, and it's good to see that my suggestion is being taken under serious consideration. Forum generalization makes things less cluttered and more organized though, so that will be good for this forum as well. For my own personal forum, what I do is I have thread prefixes for the list of languages, and the user can choose from that so that a programmer viewing the user's thread has an indication of what language they need help with. Many different ways to do things though.

I'd be okay with just one forum though. You could split it up into a scripting and compiled language categorization, but it only really makes sense to do so from my experience, based on the activity of these forums. Otherwise you have too many forums with only a few threads, and it looks silly lol.

Starting out general and expanding is my rule of thumb after thinking about my strategies.
