Hey guys I recently tried to update to windows 10 directly from windows 8. I installed it overnight and the next morning it said the install had failed. It then reverted back to windows 8. I thought this was no big deal, I could just try again and/or wait for when my computer says it is recommended I upgrade, but that is beside the point. After this happened, I tried to go on plug dj, among other sites, and my browser(s) all kept saying the "DNS Lookup failed." I've spent hours looking through forums trying to find a solution. Some of them have worked, but only for a short period of time or until the router is restarted. I went to cmd and typed in "ipconfig/all" and here is what came up.

I had to delete few things because the site was complaining about sneaky url's. I use at&t for my wifi if you need to know.

If you are trying to get a wired connection, the one you are presumably looking for is this:

Code:
Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 84-34-97-89-07-41

Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

Can you confirm that the cat5/cat6 wire is not disconnected and is giving a green light? One way to test the consistency of the cable, without additional equipment, is to complete the circuit into different ports on your router, or between other devices, which you know will work. Also, you may want to see if a driver update is available from Realtek.

See here: Realtek

I'm not sure what you are trying to say here, as there aren't any sneaky URLs I'm aware of.

Fyi you cann't go from W8 to WX... you can (and need too) first upgrade the W8 system to a W8.1 using the free upgrade from the microsoft store then upgrade that... several patches later... to a WX
