Windows 8 Windows 8 OEM?

Now all they need to do to complete the process, is, lift the restrictions on how many times you can re-install before having to call MS for re-activation.

It would be helpful if Microsoft could follow the Adobe approach to activation. With Adobe (Photoshop, for example), you can de-activate a product. Helpful when you dump an old computer and want to move programs to the new one, or if you have to reformat and start over with a troubled machine. MS is a major pain in this area, both Windows and especially Office.

You can, quite legally, deactivate Windows, like this:
In a command prompt (Run as Administrator), enter this command and enter.

slmgr.vbs /upk

Click OK.

Windows is now in an unlicensed condition, and the product key has been removed. Whenever you reboot,You will have the message "This copy of Windows is not genuine" bottom right corner of your desktop, unless you choose to reactivate.
