Windows Vista Windows XP Pro on HP Media Center upgrade

I just purchased Vista Premium upgrade for my WinXP Pro/HP Media Center PC. Is this the best/ideal upgrade path, or should I have purchased the Vista Pro upgrade? I've not yet attempted the install/upgrade yet.
