Windows 7 Windows7 installation freeze at expanding files 36%

so i'm upgrading from xp and windows 7 installation keeps freezing at expanding files (36%)........can anyone help???

Hi.

Yes, the install DVD is likely burnt unwell.

Create a USB stick to install from and do so from there. Google for how to create the USB stick installer from the .iso as it's not that difficult.

You'll have to set the motherboard to boot from the USB device. Some motherboards see them as a hard drive instead, so keep that in mind while giving it a try.

The above practically guarantees success, as it works in all cases like this, or at least 95%.

If you waited for the freeze for only a short time, walk away, let it do it's thing and see if that has helped.

thanks...... i did just buy the cd from a store so it should be fine but i will try the usb idea
