Windows 7 Won't Show Login Screen

Hello, starting last night every time I would start my Windows 7 laptop, everything would be fine until it would normally show the login screen. But it doesn't show the login screen. It's just a black screen with the mouse icon. I've read a bunch of other forum threads like this, but they all say that it works fine if they start in safe mode, but mine doesn't work in safe mode either! What do I do?

Must mention: in many cases it will be faster to totally reinstall Windows, in stead of fighting with problems / errors. That way you get it all new...

Does anything show on the screen prior to that. If not, you may have turned the screen off. Check the buttons on the top of the keyboard.

No, the screen is on. I'm 100% sure of this. Also, my parents lost the backup disc and I was unable to reinstall Windows.

All in all, I ended up buying a new Windows 8 laptop.
