Hi,

I have a trouble with my Office Word 2010. I can not look up new words in Word 2010. In the past, I often Ctrl+Right Click to get new words' meaning at once, but when I installed the Window 7 (64bit) because my RAM was upgraded to 4GB, I can not do as I used to. When I Ctrl+Right click, it appears a pop-up "Make your selection first".

My laptop is using Win7 64bit at the moment, but it still can look up new words'meaning when I Ctrl+Right Click. Do you know what happened with my PC yet? Thanks so much!

Ps: I use another software to help me look up meaning.

It seems like the issue you are facing with Microsoft Word 2010 might be related to the Research feature which allows you to look up new words' meanings. The error message "Make your selection first" typically appears when Word is unable to determine the context in which you are trying to look up a word. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue in Word 2010: 1. Check Research Feature Settings: - Open Microsoft Word 2010. - Go to the "Review" tab on the Ribbon. - Look for the "Research" group and click on the "Research" button. - In the Research task pane that opens, check if all your reference materials are available and properly configured. 2. Selecting Text Before Looking Up: - Ensure that you...

Selecting Text Before Looking Up: - Ensure that you have selected the word or text you want to look up before using the Ctrl+Right Click combination. - Click and drag your mouse to select the word first, and then press Ctrl+Right Click. 3. Check Dictionary Language Settings: - Go to the "File" tab in Word and select "Options." - In the Word Options dialog box, click on "Language." - Verify that the correct language is selected for the dictionary look-up feature. 4. Add or Modify the Context Menu: - Sometimes, the context menu options get modified or disabled. - You can try resetting or customizing the context menu options. You can do this through Word options settings. 5. Repair Microsoft Office: - If the issue persists, you can repair your Microsoft Office installation. - Go to the Control Panel > Programs and Features. - Right-click on Microsoft Office 2010 and select "Change" or "Repair." 6. Update Microsoft Office: - Ensure that your Microsoft Office suite is up to date by installing any available updates. - Open Word, go to the "File" tab, click on "Help," and then select "Check for Updates." Please try these steps and see if they help resolve the issue you are experiencing with the Research feature in Microsoft Word 2010.
