Windows Vista Writing to cd/dvd

I've had Vista Home Premium for a year now, and have come to terms with it - apart from from one annoying feature. A lot of my photos are backed up on cds; when I try to add to these, (knowing there is ample space), Vista wants to reformat the disc, which would of course wipe out the photos already on it! I use rewrite discs, and they were originally used with XP. Is this due to the way they were formatted with XP? Incidentally, if I do a format with Vista it seems to take forever!

Unfortunately yes... When I used vista I always used to use the quicker of the two options given... Or try this free app:
