So I downloaded the game Maplestory and it will give me the BSoD about 10-20 minutes into playing. At other times, it will BSoD right after the game launches. I've updated my drives, restarted my computer, patched, etc. Any ideas on what is going on? Any help is appreciated.

Computer Specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-880GM-USB3 (Socket M2)
CPU: AMD FX-4100
Video Card: 1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 v2 (EVGA)
Power Supply: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus - 600W Power Supply
RAM: 4 GB (2 x 2GB)
Windows 7 Ultimate

Bugcheck 124 is usually caused by a hardware issue. Either a piece of hardware is faulty or software is causing the hardware to fail. The crash in your case is specifically a 'machine check exception':
Normal causes for MCE errors include overheating and/or incorrect hardware installation. Specific manually-induced causes include:

  • overclocking (which normally increases heat-output)
  • poorly-fitted heatsink/computer fans (the same problem can happen with excessive dust in the CPU fan)
  • an overloaded internal or external power-supply (fixable by upgrading)
That basically covers the hardware side of things and what you need to check on although unfortunately your drivers are not being presented in the dump file along with other information. Can you check your settings and if need be change them to this:

Go to Start and type in sysdm.cpl and press Enter
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Startup and Recovery Settings button
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Complete Memory dump in the dropdown box
Ensure that the directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump << where your .dmp files can be
found later.
Click OK and apply to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect.

Clear the Minidump folder and try to recreate the bsod and then send in the results.

Things to try:
Check your motherboards Bios is the latest version by using CPU-Z:

If it needs updating then make sure you know which motherboard version or revision you have (it will be written on the motherboard itself) and update accordingly:

There wasn't an option for "Complete Memory," so I choose the other which was "Small memory dump." Yes I play games regularly and this is the first game I've had the bsod. Other games I play are more graphic intensive such as Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. Currently I have AVG Free.

unfortunately I'm still not seeing your unloaded drivers and there is currently an investigation on why this occurs (basically we don't know why this happens with certain dump files but hopefully not for long... but I digress)
I did some searching using Maplestory and bsod as the search term and it appears some anti-virus can affect the game causing a bsod. Try removing AVG and using MSE as that is usually very stable:
