I have recently updated my Windows 10 software. Upon start or restart of my laptop following sign-in I boot to the an Edge page that says welcome to the new Windows 10 and then a message comes on and directs me to sign-out and restart due to a problem with the sign-in to my account. I then get a notification that I have been signed into my account as a temporary user. I have logged into my Microsoft account changed my password and confirmed my account and I still continue to get this annoying message. Can someone help me to correct this problem?

Security software or a corrupt profile are the two most common reasons for this.
Some security software will try and scan the NTUSER.dat file in your profile when you login. This can keep the file locked and cause this message, or the same file is corrupt.
For the latter you'd need to login with an administrator account (can't be the account your having problems with) and rename the affected user profile directory in C:\Users. You can just add a .old to the name.
Then go in the registry and locate the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Under this key you will see several keys with name like S-1-5.

- Select each key that starts with S-1-5-21 and look at the ProfileImagePath value on the right pane until you see your user name
- If it ends in .bak you will need to remove the .bak portion. For example my user is Bob and I see C:\Users\Bob.bak and I need to change it to say C:\Users\Bob
- Reboot and test
