Is there a new virus out that is aimed at windows 7?. I just got a call from some "tech" telling me he was from MS... telling me a new virus was attacking windows 7... wanted $100 + to get rid of it. He also said MS Essentials anti virus couldn't stop it..
Is there such a virus?
And if so...how can I get rid of it?
Any help appreciated

MS does not make calls like this, ignore it.. a phishing scam to get your money. I however am bored, and will be bored for the next 2-3 hours, if you wish I will offer my services free of charge via remote to look over your system and tell you what I think about the state of your computer (i.e. any spyware or viruses). I'm not offering this because I'm a "staffer", I'm just bored and have nothing better to do :) PM me if you want to take me up on the offer.

Do you have any of the popular Instant Message programs installed? We can start that way...

User did not have a virus but instead has issues with an application, this issue has been closed and I will create a new thread with the application specific issue.
