Windows 7 Corrupted icons. Help please

You probably need to run a chkdsk to look at your drives.


Then open an Administrative command prompt and check your system files:

SFC /scannow

Then a couple of Anti-virus utilities may find something.

If Windows Update is causing problems, what anti-virus are you running, and do you see any warning messages or failed updates regarding Windows Update?
