I have a gateway laptop which I updated from Vista to Windows 7 home premium. The problem I have is that I place the gadgets I want on the desktop, but when I reboot the computer the gadgets are not there any more. I have searched the internet for answers and have found a few suggestions which have not worked. Can anyone give me a fix for this please?

It probably has something to do with the upgrade, because it has been many times noted by many users that upgrading to 7 causes bugs later. If the problem persists, make a shortcut of

C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe

and put the shortcut to your Startup folder.

Vista's sidebar had an option to run or not on startup, 7 does not have this option.

I did what you suggested and it still does not save the gadgets across a reboot or a logout/login. Maybe I ought to consider a Clean install?
