Greetings,
I have recently bought Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and am unable to sync it with my hdtv. I plugged in the adapter and powered it through a USB extension but when I add a wireless display, it says "No devices found". My computer is unable to pair with the display adapter and it is very troublesome.

Methods I have tested:

Resetting the display adapter

Scanning multiple times

Turning off the firewall

Updating Windows 8

I downloaded the MWDA's app and it will not activate until connected so it is useless for now. Am I missing something? Do I need to download drivers for the adapter? Also, I think it is important to note the computer did scan some phones nearby so that confirms it is not broken.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Make/model of adapter? Are there any special required for your HDTV for such an adapter? Is there a firmware update for your HDTV, if it's a smart TV?

Make/model of adapter: Model number is 1628
There is nothing special required for my hdtv that I know of.
No updates required because it is not a smart tv.

Yes, the television does connect with the computer via hdmi. I suppose I cannot use the adapter on the television then?
