My Grandson gave me his old laptop, an Acer Aspire 5750. He can't remember his password to the administrator so I can't download and run any new programs. I can use the PC as a "user" but I want to update several programs. I previously got help here and then I put in a new keyboard and tried his passwords again, but still no luck.

I went to NT Offline Password

I downloaded the cd110511.zip file (~3MB) Bootable CD image

Then extracted files from zip

I burned disk image to DVD and then I got to wondering.....

Since the lost password is for the administrator and I can't download anything and run it, unless I do that as the administrator, will this DVD work?

Thank you

Solution
Yes, when you boot from the dvd you have burned you will be bypassing logon for established accounts and will be able to reset the password for the account you select.
