I recently bought an Acer Aspire One 532H windows 7 starter, I need to purchase a router, does it matter what I get? I have a Dell desk top also. Also would like to get a wireless printer for the Acer, any suggestions. We are going to be traveling and need something wireless and compact.

Nope - shouldn't matter.

Though models such as the D-LINK DIR-655 will give you the ultimate range and wireless performance.
As for a printer, you could buy a fully wireless one, or one that stays plugged into one of your computers and then can be shared over your network wirelessly with HomeGroup.

Hope this helps :)

** EDIT **

I didn't see the part about wireless and compact.. Something in the HP line should give you great printing results regardless of size, though it will probably be more expensive..
