Every day the following appears downloaded as an automatic update and consistently fails to install; "Security update for Microsoft visual C +++ 2005 service pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB973923)"
Does anyone have any ideas on why this is occurring and what I can do?
I am running Windows 7 64bit.

Solution
Try it again and post the error code.

You can also try:
1. Restore the computer to a time before you updated your drivers and that particular update.
2. Try the update again.

Also, try this:
Go to "Start" --> "Control Panel" --> "System" --> "Administrative Tools" -->
"Services"

Find "Windows Update" - Set this to start Automatically
Find "Windows Installer" - Set this to start Automatically

Restart the two services, and run Windows Update again.

Thanks for the responses.
I have tried two of the suggestions. First changing the update settings to automatic didn't do the trick.
I downloaded and tried the 'bat' file and again the update failed to install.
I am about to try the the other suggestion.
This update is a real pain. Every time I shut down there it is, failing to install yet again.
Is it crucial, is my PC wide open to a virus or worse if this update isn't installed?

The system restore point option hasn't been successful either.
How do I get the error code? Is the following the error code: Error 1935 0x80070002?
