I want to share files on my lan and it takes about 25min until I can see my files that I have stored on my Xp computer when I use Win7. The file that I want to access from Win7 is about 50GB and I wonder if Win7 want to "check" the files on my XP before I can access them?
When I was using XP this "problem" (not a big one) did not occur.
I hope someone can help me clear this out.

Solution
It seems like Win7 needs the complete computername to connect to. My XP computer, that I want to connect to using Win7, has a name with 15 letters and figures (name and hex) and if I type the whole sequence in the searchbox I get connection at once.
Thank you for helping.

If you put Link Removed in your search box, you don't see the XP computer right away? Or are you talking about it taking 25min to download the file from the XP computer?

Are you running a homegroup?

If I type the xp computername in searchbox on Win7 computer nothing happens. Doesn´t find anything. If I rightclick the startbutton and then open explorer I can see my xp computer after 20 25 minutes.
