I got my daughter a Gateway laptop in Oct 07, with Vista installed. She has not used it alot. Just recently, it locks up 60s after power up. I mean locks up! You can't do a thing, including Task Mgr. Tried power up in Safe mode....same thing.

Any ideas? Any support numbers for Microsoft? I spent 30 minutes on the line with Gateway....the guy was rude and told me to call Microsoft.

Full reload? I have no recovery disk.

i would return to seller and holler warranty.
if you can, get into safe mode and remove the video drivers within that 60 secs, try that.
or if you can get system restore started within that time limit, try that.

Gateway should supply you with a recovery disk. Why not try and phone them again, you might get another person.
