Windows 7 Make Desktop Icons Stay Put

Hello, I just started using windows 7 ultimate 32bit and I am having a problem with my desktop icons. everytime I reboot the icons all show up on the left side of the desktop, I keep putting them back where I like them ( all around the edges) but they don't stay there. how do you make them stick to the desktop where you place them. I can't find any settings to be able to make them stick.

Have you right clicked on the desktop and unchecked "auto arrange" and "align icons"?

Yes I have done that but they keep reverting back to the left side and going from small to large.

You could try 'Fences' from Stardock. It is a great tool for organising shortcuts into 'like' groups. There is a free version.
