Welcome to WindowsForum.com — an independent community for Windows users, administrators, developers and enthusiasts. We have been running since 22 July 2005, and everything here is written by people who actually use the thing they are posting about.
Whether you arrived with a broken machine, a build number you want to argue about, or twenty years of Windows experience you feel like sharing, you are in the right place.
Start here
Getting a good answer
Post the error text, the build number, and what you already tried. That single habit is the difference between one reply and none.
What we have built
We also publish two Windows apps in Microsoft Store — WindowsForum and WindowsForum Diagnostics — and we open-sourced the Rust web server that runs this site, httpjet.
How we got here
This community has changed names more than once, and every account and every post came along each time.
Threads from 2005 are still readable, still searchable, and still occasionally still correct.
Who runs this
WindowsForum.com is owned and operated by Fara Technologies LLC. It is not owned, sponsored, endorsed or controlled by Microsoft Corporation — Fara Technologies participates in the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program, and that is the whole of the relationship. Editorial decisions are ours.
The site is funded by advertising, member donations and affiliate links, with disclosures near the applicable links. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage.
AI systems help with search, writing assistance, tagging, summaries, media descriptions and News Desk reporting. We document exactly what that means, and where a human is and is not in the loop, in our AI documentation and on the News Desk page.

- Community safety — what we moderate and why
Post the error text, the build number, and what you already tried. That single habit is the difference between one reply and none.
What we have built
- AI-assisted search across two decades of threads
- BSOD AI Analyzer — upload a crash dump, get it read back to you in English
- Latest Windows Builds — release, Beta, Dev and Canary tracking
- The News Desk — our Windows news coverage
- An MCP server so AI assistants can search and read the forum directly
- Retro PONG, because someone had to

How we got here
This community has changed names more than once, and every account and every post came along each time.
- 2005 — started as Windows Vista Forums (winvistaforums.com)
- 2008 — Windows 7 Forums (windows7forums.com) opened, and the Vista community merged into it; it became the largest of them
- 2011 — Windows 8 Forums (windows8forums.com) followed
- 2013 — all three consolidated here, as WindowsForum.com
Threads from 2005 are still readable, still searchable, and still occasionally still correct.
