Today's Hardware Friday is of a kind I've not seen before. Sure, we've seen the Chat to Hardware, Hardware to Chat projects, but I don't think I've seen that uses Lync and the Unified Communications Web API.
Plus I've missing blogging about .Net Gadgeteer projects... :)

I've been working on the desktop all day, and just got it back up and running. Shortly after reaching desktop, Windows popped an alert that there was an update available. Figuring it was the usual Windows Defender update, I checked and it listed one "important" update, and selecting that...

This may be a problem on my side, but could be a forum bug?
In alerts, after opening, I have from time to time decided to "stop watching". I think I have it correct. I tick the box at the bottom "more options" and then untick "watch this thread". This doesn't always seem to work (for me). As...
This happened a few times already. So, I decide to post the issue here and see if I did something wrong or what I encountered was normal......
I signed in a moment ago and clicked at Alerts at top right corner next to my name, I got a box saying I must sign in first. But I was already signed...
I received alerts which told me that some has "quoted " my post.
Why do I have to know that ?
A simple alert will suffice. Why a special category under Alerts ?
Thank you.
When starting Windows Live Mail, I get this msg ->initialization of RSS feed support failed.
What needs changed to get rid of this?
Also I have my "Alerts" set lowest in UAC but I still get a msg at the start of every program I start asking me if I want to start it.
How can I set it so I can...
I recently had a glitch in my Outlook 2010 and had to redo the email accounts, and indicate the appropriate pst file. All is well except that I have lost all the Rules and Alerts. Where are they and how do I get them back?
I have Microsoft Security Essentials on my Windows 7 computer and I get this “Windows Security Alert” from Cleanerworrysaferyin saying it detected Trojans and ready to remove them. They want to put up a setup.zip. I was watching Netflix and my computer stop dead in its tracks and this warning...

Hello
Starting today, when I go to my live account(Hotmail), this popup appears above the taskbar for a moment then disappears. I have not yet had a chance to see what my options are but I think they are; cancel, allow, acceppt.
I have run my Norton's Security Suite but nothing was there.
I was...
I am looking for some sort of daily reminder that is in the computer where I can input the data when I want and it will alert me when the day arrives about appointments or bills to pay etc. It seems such an obvious and simple thing that I would have thought it would be in win 7 somewhere. If so...
I was able to get Windows Mail to work on Windows 7 and created a folder for Windows Calendar, put the files there but the program will not execute from Windows Mail. It will run on it's own, but the reminders won't alert me and like I said, it won't run when I click the icon inside Windows...
Again!??
According to Microsoft's July issue newsletter (Security for home computer users), it seems that we've got more scareware products on the horizon. We've probably all seen them before in one version or another while browsing the web, you get a pop up warning that some form of malicious...
