Hi,
I have run into a problem when upgrading my current machine to use an SSD as the main boot device. I restored a backup of my original Sata drive on to the SSD and I am able to boot from it ok.
My problem is that when I connect the original Sata HD to the machine it appears in the BIOS...

Hello, I am currently experiencing a troubling issue with a WD Caviar HD.
It was installed as the only HD on a Dell machine that after falling on the desk (from vertical to flat) decided it was tired of booting normally.
I took out the hard drive, attached it via SATA to a working Win 7 Pro...
There were two PCs - one with Win8 64bit ConsumerPreview(1 HDD 120GB) and one with WinXP 32bit (1 HDD 750GB). I've tried to put both HDDs in same PC but failed.
When bootdevice is HDD with WinXP everything is OK, just one more 'volume' appears. But when i set bootdevice to other HDD with Win8...

Hi, I have a new machine I built about three months ago and I've only occasionally had BSODs. But now they've increased in the past couple of weeks to sometimes two or three a day. Usually a few minutes after I wake the machine from sleep.
One BSOD error said something about USBScan.sys with...
Hi!
I'll jump straight to the point, I had windows 7 installed for a long time, today all of a sudden the PC crashed and I'm getting the Bootmgr is missing error at startup. I can't press F8 etc., only BIOS setup works. Since I don't use a DVD for reinstall, I used a USB installation, made it...

I have been thinking about getting a SATA controler card and a few SSD for my system. I have been looking around for something on this topic and thus far have not found anything talking about it or it is talking about moveing the entire disk.

W8 may run well for several days, but occasionally hangs for 30' to minutes. Mouse is usable and some window switching is possible, but during the freeze it's essentially dead. Occurs randomly while in browser, other programs, file manager, etc. Sometimes, but not always, a window reports...
While playing audio, using either WMP or MPC, the system may hang, with a reboot the only option. This can occur after just minutes, or hours.
It's then evident that the NTFS is corrupt on both the SATA drive (Win 8) and an SSD drive (W7) - all partitions. CHKDSK /f fires up.
Otherwise...
When I open the PC, my hardrive and DVD rom was detected in bios but when the operating system started it shows the windows logo then after a second it shows a message that "the driver not found. Im confuse because i have only one hardrive which is the win7 installed on it. How can possibly that...
Okay so, first of all I'm new to the entire world of forums, but this time I really need some help. I bought this new computer about a month ago on a website (where I've bought a lot of things before). I chose the parts and they built it for me, so to start off here are the specs!

A few months ago, I found out my processor was failing thanks to a computer store downtown. So we got a new one, and reformatted my hard drive in case. Then, I returned to the store again a few weeks later because I was beginning to get random BSODs. They said it was cause of a corrupt install...

I want to install Win7 on 2 H/Ds is there anything that I should be aware of before I start? One drive is PATA and the other is SATA I think I must select which drive to boot from in the BIOS' I realize I cannot run 2 instances of the same Win 7 at the same time and the end goal is to reduce...
1) Surf the web for hours and get nowhere, not least when you try the Microsoft Windows 8 forum and they advise you to cut and paste a registry command which doesn't work. At least not for me.
2) Put your drive's SATA lead in a different socket on the motherboard. You may have to experiment...

My new computer came with Win 7 (upgraded to Pro) installed on C:, which is a 60 g/b ssd, with the 3 g/b sata. After installing a few programs that will only let you install on C:, this drive is now full.
I want to install a new 250 g/b ssd, with 6 b/g sata bus to replace the original 60.
