An attempt was made to reset Windows while keeping the personal User files intact. The reset did not finish and the PC won't boot up. I took out the hard drive to test it and check what files were on it after that Reset did not work. This is what I've found.
Any help with what to delete or...
Much to my surprise I found some folders (e.g.

I don't usually mess with the registry but occasionally manually edit to make small changes. Anyhow, I was doing a search for a particular key and I came across what appears to be references to drives and folders/files that do not exist on my computer. There are a lot of them actually spread...
This issue is my friend's who has spent many hours building data using non-Microsoft apps. His laptop refuses to start up into Win10. Microsoft agent says the way forward is to do a custom install on the C: drive. There are three other drives that my friend has created on his 1TB HDD. He...

Hello,
I am currently running into a BSOD on my windows Laptop. I currently am stuck in a loop where I cannot even enter Safe Mode, and I have run out of online sources that could help me in the correct direction. According to my SrtTrail.txt file, my error lies within the bootres.dll, which is...

Failed boot 3: Automatic repair.
Failed boot 4: Boot normally again?
In which file does Windows store the information of what mode to boot into?
So I decided to do some cleaning in my PC. But one thing that has been bothering me a long time and was afraid to delete them, are some folders with long names containing random numbers and letters on my Local Disk. Examples:

Can I delete Windows10Upgrade folder? I am looking for stuff to delete, so I can have more space. This folder is 3.26GB. I don't think it does anything other than taking space.
I cannot reset my computer as the attempt always fails. I believe I am missing some system files. The restore application also fails. Windows 10 was upgraded from Windows 8 via download. So I do not have the registration key or whatever. So what solutions are available before taking it in for...
I learnt some time ago that you could delete the information that builds up in the software distribution folder and that has kept me going but a few months ago I noticed windows was holding onto data somewhere else after an update for a few weeks then it would just disappear. With the last...

I have just installed the fall creator update and all seems fine. I also made a flash drive for a clean installation if needed.
My question is, How long should I not remove the disc cleanup system files because I want to create an image that does not contain all those files.
Assume a hard disk contains a possibly (partially) corrupted Windows 7.
I boot now a ToolsCD or USB flash drive with Windows 10.
When I open now a CmdPrompt and enter
sfc /scannow /offwindir=C:\Windows /offbootdir=C:\
then I cannot do this since the local, active, running WinOS is different...

Apparently, a windows.old folder was created last night at around 11pm (I had no idea).
I noticed I have increased HDD activity, and I was wondering why's that. Then windows said my boot disk space is running low, so I went to 'My Computer' and noticed a large chunk of my second HDD space is...

Hi Everybody,
I have a basic question. This is probably all very normal, but as far as I can remember there are only three possible users on my compute .... "me", a "guest", and a mysterious "Administrator".
But, My "C:\User\" DIRECTORY shows a bunch of users I don't recognize, and although...
Hello again,
Possibly unusual problem: I had Windows 7 re-installed to C: recently by a computer shop.
I don't know how it happened, but some system files from the previous installation are on drive D: taking up over 8MB of space. I imagine this is the saved copy of the old system which...
