I've lost access to the e-mail account I submitted as a contact address to Microsoft during Windows 7 registration. So, I can't read any of the info I'm getting from MS. How can I submit an alternative address? I've posted this question on the MS Tech Net. No answer. I've mailed Redmond and was...
Hi, I'm new here.
I recently installed the beta on a dual boot machine (winXP is the other OS) and it it is working smoothly enough for me aside from the odd software compatibility issue. I do have one hardware issue: both task manager and CPU-z detect my quad core Q9300 as a single core when...

We reported yesterday that Microsoft was already working on release candidate builds of the windows 7 operating system. Our assumption at that time was that the Windows 7 Release Candidate would be released in...

Sorry, it's a french page...google translate seemed to work pretty well.
Again, this is only a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt.
I'm trying to install Windows 7 from within XP (dual boot or upgrade). I get about 5 seconds into the install and encounter the following:
"Windows Setup cannot find a location to store temporary installation files. to install Windows, make sure that a partition on your boot disk has at least...
I've downloaded windows 7 b1 from Technet, I didn't burn it, instead, I used Daemon to run setup.exe. It was all OK before Expand File. When it copied all the file, it jumped out a message like this:
"Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are...

I wrote up an article based on a post I saw at another forum. Anyway, this is how you get the key, though it still hasn't worked for me yet.
First, off, go to http://technet.microsoft.com and sign in in the upper right corner
Then you want to use either of these links:

It's official, Steve Ballmer has just announced that you can find the Windows 7 Ultimate Beta (Build 7000) on the Microsoft website as of January 9th. No information on how to get 7 Ultimate beta keys have been released yet, I'll keep you posted.
As for Technet and MSDN, they've got their...
I have read in more then one place that the public beta for build 7000 is to be released today. Has anybody seen it yet? I am watching the Microsoft Connect site, Microsoft Technet, and the Windows 7 webpage. Nothing yet from what I see.

Rearm Windows 7 Evaluation Builds
Just as you could do during the release of the Windows Vista pre-releases, betas, and release candidates, the Software Licensing Manager in Windows 7 allows you to "re-arm" a Windows 7 operating system that was installed without a product key. This process is...
Microsoft has officially released the Link Removed for Technet subscribers. The major changes in SP2 are provided here. The date when SP2 will be released to the general public is still unknown.
If your short on disk space you can reclaim 800MB by un-installing the files used to install SP1. If you right-click on command prompt (found in the start menu) and choose 'run as administrator', then type 'vsp1cln' (without the quotes). Hit enter and the files will un-install. The thing to...
Hi, I found this on the 'Tweakguides.com' site:
Windows Vista SP1
15 February 2008
Microsoft has released Vista SP1 to MSDN and Technet subscribers. It can be found in the Top Subscribers Download section on the subscriptions home page, as well as on Connect.
Many may be wondering about this. There are about several ways to get a genuine copy of Microsoft Windows Vista now. If you're a software developer you can get a subscription to the Microsoft Developer Network and get a final copy of Windows Vista for non-production use. IT professionals can...
