If anyone would like guidance in configuring VMs, like XP or Windows 7, in Hyper-V please feel free to ask me. I'd be glad to tell you how.
Cheers,
Drew

Virtual Machines can be useful for certain functions, and to solve problems without risking your main OS.
But there is fundamentally, no saving of HD space. If, however, it is only the intention to run a bare OS for problem solving then, of course, without any third party add-ons, it is a...

For example, I keep VMs of legacy Windows for client support. IF, for whatever reasons, you are running VMs of Operating Systems remember they, too, require updating... (their) browsers, Adobe, Java, Microsoft Updates, security tool(s) for A-V & A-M, CCleaner, et al; AND the same TLC, too...

Well, there that's done (smile). I recently revamped my tower motivated by wanting to use Hyper-V in Windows 8. That said, I have completed building 3 VMs for client support. XP, Vista and Windows 7 w/ IE10, all up to date (SPs and Updates) & equipped w/ MSE. I gave each 2Gb RAM; they seem...

No Beta OS should ever be installed, except as, follows:
1. On a spare machine
2. Virtually
3. As a dual-boot.
4. Run from a USB stick
Never as an Upgrade or replacement to an existing, current, non-beta OS. Never on a production machine.
Nor, BTW, can one move from 1 Beta of an OS to the...

Hello,
I have an application which a pc in the newtork runs a VBS script to another pc and executes some actions. It works fine in physical/Virtual machines of Windows XP and Physical machines of WIN7 but the script is not executing in Virtual Machines with WIN7. Do you have any idea what is...
While my years of using Windows products overall has been very positive for the 12 years that I've been a MS customer, sometimes they try to break one off in me.
Whenever I install XP, I always hide IE8 as an update, due to a bad experience I had when IE8 was released. I didn't even want IE8...

I just installed a WD Caviar Black last week as a second internal HD. I've had a couple of pleasant surprises. The first was moving my virtual machines there improved the performance of them. The second was making a drive image with Acronis there it takes about half the time of doing on one of...
I read on the VMware forum that installing the VM on a different disk from the host improves performance. I just installed a second internal HD a WD Caviar Black and then moved the VMs there. I think that they do run better once they fully boot up. I don't know it this would work with others...

Can you see the gauges, read the info in or on them? I built the box. Was XP/Vista. Then Vista & 2 Win7s. Now 2 Win7s. Also, for the duration, now & going forward, any number of VMs, be they XP, Vista , 7 or whatever. VMs are for testing & client support.
Cheers,

Take a look at the new version of VMWare Workstation and you will have no doubt in your mind that Microsoft's Hyper-V offering, which was formerly only available in Windows Server 2008, will be negligible for serious virtualization users when the time comes to upgrade to Windows 8. VMWare...
