My volume control is missing from the system tray. It was there earlier and when i rebooted it never came up. Also, in the "show or hide volume icon on the taskbar" the volume control os blaked out and off. I could not activate it from there. Any suggestions?

My browser has randomly started to display most text in italic. Someone said to delete some fonts and reinstall them, but when I try it, it says the fonts are protected. Could someone please help me with this?
EDIT: Solved by downloading and reinstalling the Arial font.
