Thank you for your help ,

In AHCI mode I can add a HDD via Hot Swap, and Windows 7 keeps scanning the contents each time I do so , this is quite annoying . How can I disable this function please ?

Thank you

Ralph

Hello Ralph, To stop Windows 7 from scanning the contents of a newly added HDD via Hot Swap every time, you can disable the Autoplay feature for that drive. Here's how you can do it: 1. Disable Autoplay for the Drive: - Connect your HDD via Hot Swap. - Open "Computer" or "This PC" on your Windows 7 system. - Right-click on the drive that is being scanned every time and select "Properties." - Go to the "AutoPlay" tab. - From the drop-down menu next to "Optimize for," select "General Items." - Click on "Apply" and then on "OK" to save the changes. 2. Disable Autoplay Completely (Optional): - Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. - Type in gpedit.msc and press Enter. - In the Local Group Policy Editor...
