EA Games/DICE have released a new Link Removed - Invalid URL for Battlefield 2. The patch contains a large amount of new content, gameplay tweaks and bug fixes. Most significantly, the patch includes: improved Vista support, proper widescreen support, a new map called Operation Blue Pearl, the game executable can now use more than 2GB of RAM, the addition of the Euro Force and Armored Fury booster packs as free content for all BF2 players, and removal of the disc check component.
Hopefully this may help those having problems that recently posted in this forum...

Solution
Quite simply you have to first download PBsetup from the official punkbuster site PunkBuster Online Countermeasures run it, add the various games that apply...then most importantly once its updated add firewall rule for IN & Outbound for Punkbuster A & B exes (something like C:\Windows\SysWOW64\PnkBstrA.exe on 64bit)
BF2 Crashing

Hello all, sorry to jump into an old thread, but I too am having the same problem. I recently decided to fire up BF2 to play with an old friend, and cannot for the life of me figure out how/ what is going on. This is the first issue i have ran into with windows 7, and any help would be great. Every time I go to play the game, i get a few blank (black) screen adjust, then it just crashes to the desktop. Here's my basic setup:

Win 7x64
Asus M2n-SLI Deluxe
8800 GTS X2 in SLI
8 Gig Ram
SB Audigy Platinum

I have literally installed this game 10-15 times in the last week, each time trying a new tweak or fix to get it running. I have tried UAC off, always running as admin, SLI on and off, all compatabilites. I also went in and changed the start up resolutions, to no avail. I have never had this many issues with a game, and the buddy who I'm trying to play with has the same basic setup, he loaded, installed, and played his just fine. Any tips/ advice would be great!!
