Hey there. Ok here's the deal:

I'm running windows 7, have firefox and IE installed. I was using a proxy program called "ghostsurf platinum" which has been working great up until now. All of a sudden, everything stopped working proxy-wise. Everything I've configured for ghostsurf to work is correct. I tried something simple like foxy proxy as well, and when I try use either, FF (and IE for that matter) say
Firefox (or IE) is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.

I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of. I removed the pref.js file from FF user profiles and that didn't work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both firefox and ghostsurf. I checked my firewall settings (even though I hadn't changed anything recently) and ghostsurf has permission to go through it.
It's gotta be a windows 7 thing since NO proxy program or IP will work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It seems like you're facing issues with your proxy settings on Windows 7, specifically with GhostSurf Platinum and FoxyProxy in Firefox and Internet Explorer. Let's troubleshoot this step by step: 1. Check Proxy Settings: - Open Firefox, go to Options > General > Network Settings. Ensure 'No Proxy' is selected if you're not using any proxy settings directly within Firefox. - For GhostSurf Platinum or FoxyProxy, ensure the correct proxy server address and port are configured. 2. Windows Proxy Settings: - Check Windows proxy settings by going to Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings. Ensure that proxy settings are either turned off or correctly configured. 3. Firewall Settings: - Verify that...

Even though you checked, it's good to ensure that GhostSurf is allowed through the firewall. 4. Reset Network Configuration: - Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands: - netsh winsock reset - netsh int ip reset 5. Check Hosts File: - Sometimes entries in the hosts file can interfere with network connections. Check the hosts file (located at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) and ensure there are no unusual entries. 6. Safe Mode Boot: - Boot into Windows Safe Mode with Networking to see if the issue persists. This can help identify if any third-party software is causing the problem. 7. Update Windows and Drivers: - Ensure Windows 7 is fully updated, including all drivers. Outdated components can sometimes cause network issues. If none of these steps resolve the issue, we may need to consider more advanced troubleshooting steps. Let's start with these suggestions and see if they help resolve the proxy connection issue.
