I built my computer almost a year ago. Almost right away I noticed that my display driver was crashing occasionally and I would notice graphics issues/anomolies. The display driver crashes would happen more frequently if I had dual monitors connected. I ended up doing a full OS reinstall and the system appeared to be stable. I noticed that after a few months the display driver started crashing again and I would occasionally see the graphics issues. They were sporadic and never caused any serious problems/inconveniences, so I did not investigate further. But a few months ago I started getting the BSOD every few weeks and the graphics driver is crashing a lot more frequently. I currently only have one monitor hooked up. If I notice any problems I will usually restart the computer a and it will work fine. I am at a complete loss of how to diagnose, especially since my CPU has an integrated GPU. Last week the computer wouldnt restart after a BSOD. Windows said that it had to be repaired, but the repair failed every time. THe system booted to safe mode and after a restart booted up normally. PLEASE HELP.

I have attached the seven forums zip along with a zip file containing screenshots of the graphics issues and a corrupted/distorted jpeg. I have also attached a zip file containing screenshots from CPU-Z showing system specs.

Solution
OK, I updated the Intel Management Engine from the Gigabyte website and I diabled the Turbo Boost setting in the BIOS. This was automatically overclocking the CPU. It is now running at default. I also switched the two remaining sticks of RAM left in the PC to the other slots. I kept getting inconsistent readings from memtest86+, so I was wondering if I could have a bad RAM slot on the motherboard. Could that be the culprit?

1. No overclocking, set your CPU at stock for now.

2. Update Intel Management Engine

    If you see NtfsExceptionFilter on the stack then the 2nd and 3rd
    parameters are the exception record and context record. Do a .cxr
    on the 3rd parameter and then kb to obtain a more informative stack
    trace.

Cybercore -

Thanks for the reply. I have not overclocked my PC. I left the default settings. I tried to update the Intel Driver, but the utility doesnt work for me. It just hangs on Loading. It has been saying that for almost 10 minutes. I also tried to run chkdsk, but I got the following error message (not the graphic issues).

I ran memtest86+ again and it came up with memory errors. I removed two sticks and reran. I got more errors. I took out those two sticks and put the other ones back in. Reran memtest for over 3 hours and no errors with the two sticks in now. Restarted and immediate BSOD. Ran memtest again for 2 more hours and no errors. Restarted and PC booted up again, but still having same problems.

I also forgot to mention that after the BSOD last week where windows said it neede to repair itself windows backup fails everytime I try to run it. See screenshot of error message.Link Removed

Whenever Core i5 661 is running 3600Mhz, it means it is being overclocked.

Use it in Internet Explorer, click to confirm you give it the permission to install and check your hardware. Alternatively, you can download Intel drivers from your motherboard support site.

Right, you are supposed to enter "Y" to confirm chkdsk on system restart.

~~~~~~~
It does look like your blue screens come from wrong hardware settings.
Yes, I am an ediot. It really does help to read something all the way through. I tried the chkdsk again last night and realized that I was supposed to reboot the computer. I ran it last night.
As for the overclocking, I did not make any changes in the BIOS. If it is overclocked, how do I set it to the default settings?
I will try and run the intel utility again.
Thanks,
OK, I updated the Intel Management Engine from the Gigabyte website and I diabled the Turbo Boost setting in the BIOS. This was automatically overclocking the CPU. It is now running at default. I also switched the two remaining sticks of RAM left in the PC to the other slots. I kept getting inconsistent readings from memtest86+, so I was wondering if I could have a bad RAM slot on the motherboard. Could that be the culprit?
Solution
inconsistent readings from memtest86+
How's that? Hanging? Rebooting? Any error messages?
Normally, when ram is right, memtest runs 8-10 passes with 0 errors.
Your OCZ settings look right - 1333Mhz 7-7-7-16 1.5v, is this correct for your ram or does it require any different values?
~~~~~

Turbo Boost - 3,3 or 3,6 gig should be fine, but since you are having blue screens it is much recommended not to overclock at all.

~~~~~
Did chkdsk /f by chance detect any errors?
~~~~~

Did you update the driver?

RAM settings are correct.

I ran memtest 3 times with all four sticks. The first two ran without any errors. The third time I received a lot of errors.

I pulled two sticks out and ran memtest again with no errors. I swapped the sticks and ran again. Received errors with those sticks. Swapped the sticks again and ran two more times. The first pair did not receive any errors either time.

BUT when I restarted my PC with the two sticks that passed memtest, I immediately got BSOD and the system was extremely unstable (display driver crashing repeatedly, a lot of graphics rendering issues, and frequent BSOD).

Did chkdsk /f by chance detect any errors?

No errors

Did you update the driver?

I updated the driver from the motherboard manufacturer's website

~~~~~~~~~
Current Status:
I moved the two "good" sticks of RAM to the other two slots and updated the driver. The system is a lot more stable now. The graphics driver has not crashed yet, and I have not received a BSOD. I am still experiencing the graphics rendering issues, though not as frequently. The system has only been running for about 2 hours though, so I may experience problems as time goes on.
So... the system seems to be more "stable" at the moment, but there are still some issues.
Any more thoughts? And thanks for your help!
So... the system seems to be more "stable" at the moment, but there are still some issues.
Since you've reduced the total amount of ram, the intel gma shared memory probably needs to be adjusted in the bios now.
"More stable" is not good enough, should be no blue screens at all. For now keep those good sticks in, and if you get any blue screens attach the crash dumps. And what are "some issues" there are still?
BSOD again today. I have attached the dump files.
I am also noticing some graphics rendering issues still, but the frequency is MUCH less than before. The graphics driver has not crashed since yesterday. So the system has improved somewhat, but we still have not got to the root of the problem.
Thanks for your continued help!
I ran memtest 3 times with all four sticks. The first two ran without any errors. The third time I received a lot of errors.
I pulled two sticks out and ran memtest again with no errors. I swapped the sticks and ran again. Received errors with those sticks. Swapped the sticks again and ran two more times. The first pair did not receive any errors either time.
Do more memtesting all over. Try out the system for blue screens with only 1 ram stick in. If crashes, place it into another slot. In the bios, reduce mapped ram for the GMA to the minimum.
