I already had 2 OS on my HDDs (win xp and win 7 32-bit).. everything's fine on them... no BSOD... been using win xp for more than 3-4 years now ... and win 7 32-bit for 1 year... no major problems... now i wanted to install win 7 64bit to take full advantage of my 4gb ram(i had since the purchase of my pc) .... but problem... once it's booted... it randomly BSOD (sometimes just 1min after boot, sometimes 20mins, sometimes 15mins) but it ultimately gets a BSOD...

i have tried several installations of win 7 64bit (ultimate, premium, home)... all same problem.. had some problems with installation for some versions (BSOD on install) .... any idea what may be wrong?? plz help? how come nothing on 32bit but it's nightmare on 64bit...

p.s. my latest install of 64bit windows 7 enterprise has less BSOD now (i have disabled lots of features of my cpu in my bios, maybe it's the reason).. find attached my latest 2 dumps..hope you can help me thx

Best advice: boot into the bios. Load defaults. Save + Exit. Run computer for a couple hours. See if your previous bios settings were the problem....

If the resetting the BIOS doesn't fix the problems, please run these free hard drive diagnostics on ALL of your hard drives: Link Removed - Invalid URL
Both BSOD's point to disk hardware as the problem.

For a more detailed analysis of this problem, please provide this information: http://windows7forums.com/blue-screen-death-bsod/38837-how-ask-help-bsod-problem.html

Also, I've seen issues with memory settings in the Asus P5 series of mobo's. Here's my canned speech on it:
FWIW - I've seen a lot of issues with the Asus P5 series of boards. I usually recommend this:
- DO NOT use the AUTO setting for memory. Go to the RAM manufacturer's website and get the recommended settings for the RAM. Then set those settings manually in the BIOS
- one person with a 2009 BIOS has experienced success by updating the BIOS. This is dangerous and one simple mistake can easily damage your motherboard so it won't work. Be VERY, VERY CAREFUL!!!
- one person reports bad caps ( Link Removed due to 404 Error ) in this post: [SOLVED] Bad overclock and now can't load windows 7 - Tech Support Forum

As of late June 2012 - I haven't seen many issues with these boards over the last several months.

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

Additionally, there are some lower level driver issues that can mimic hardware problems - so I'd suggest fixing them if the hard drives pass the diagnostics. They are:

Your Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver (ASACPI.sys) dates from 2005 and is a known cause of BSOD's in some Win7 systems. It must be updated to the 2009 or later version. Please visit the Asus support website for your mobo ( ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P5Q Deluxe ) and download the driver from the Utilities section (it was the first one listed when I checked it).

Your wireless USB XBox controller driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems. Please remove the software for this device and then unplug it from your system. Once the system is stable (no more BSOD's) you can feel free to try it again with a fresh installation of the device software.

Sorry, I forgot to add that info in my original post!

Remove MagicISO. AFAIK there isn't an update for this program.
So just leave it off of your system.

If it's needed, then try reinstalling it after the system is made stable again (no more BSOD's).

hi, thx for your advices... first thing i tried is resetting my bios to default settings... and once booted to win7 x64, i got a BSOD after 5mins of use (was browsing the web) (got object termination bugcheck).. so it seems the CPU features "accelerates" the BSOD.. so i re-disabled every features of the CPU settings in the bios...

i did HDD diagnostics with WD tools and hitachi tools and no erro found. Did a memory test and no errors found... (plz note that i removed xbox controller drivers and updated ATK10110) and removed magicISO virtual drive... and still BSODS with same bugcheck... and yup i also installed SP1... so i decided to do yet another fresh install(it's like my 21 installs now)... everything went fine until last step of installation where i got a BSOD (clock interrupt not received in secondary processor).... but it looks like installation was completed... and was able to boot in win 7 x64 and seems running fine.... i started surfing the web and installed the latest updates.. i then installed a game(sleeping dogs) and some programs like avast antivirus and firefox...

again everything was fine, no BSOD... was running like 1hr or more (was able to play sleeping dogs too)...no problem so far.. i restarted my pc as it needed to apply the windows updates.. restarted fine... so i decided to install more apps as everything was looking fine.. installed 7zip 64bit, media player classics and VLC... still good.. so i tried to install some more apps (adobe cs6).... bam... midway in the installation, BSOD.. not same bugcheck as before... got "The bugcheck was: 0x00000124"..... so i was guessing maybe the latest apps caused this, so i decided to do a system restore... and left my system idle(went to watch tv).. when i got back, i saw my pc was restarted.. looking at the events, i saw got yet another BSOD. same 124 bugcheck)...

so i decided to restore to earliest system config as possible... and i tried install sleeping dogs again(got erased with last restore).. bam BSOD (see attached latest BSOD, i lost the previous BSODs due to restore).. plz help!! plz note that everything's smooth in win7 320bit and xp 32bit.. not a single BSOD for weeks(i often let my pc on for weeks downloading stuff)

how is it possible that 64bit is so much trouble...

First off, I suspect this is a hardware problem (even more so now due to your detailed description of what you've done).
But in order to be sure, we have to rule out the troublesome 3rd party drivers.
At times, when dealing with hardware problems, the memory dump files will spit out many different drivers in each memory dump. So we spend our time tracking them down.

That's what we're doing now - so please be patient.

Please provide this report :
MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type "msinfo32 /nfo C:\Users\Public\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to the C:\Users\Public\Desktop directory to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :
