    Hi and thanks in advance

I think i have followed all the new thread instruction and have attached everything required

So far i have only tried a system restore but that was a fail

BSOD only shows up when i try to login normally .... computer runs fine when in safe mode i left it on all day while i was at work to see if it would restart itself again but all good

I can't get CUPID screen shot as i get an error in safe mode trying to use it and has no info in mem and spd and i can't sign into none safe mode for long enough to get a screen shot

attached is all the dump files and SF diagnostic tool file

    thanks jamie

Hey Jamie, you are welcome to the forums. : )

    Code:
    011711-18688-01.dmp
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
    This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses
    Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( [B]nt!ObpQueryNameString[/B]+4ed )

    1. Update drivers:

WD External Storage WD SCSI Architecture Model (SAM) driver
    Western Digital Technologies

    -> wdcsam.sys Wed Apr 16 04:39:08 2008

    Logitech Webcam
    ->lvuvc64.sys Wed Oct 07 04:28:44 2009

    2. If bsods are frequent, and I see you've had quite a few over the past few days, you may want to remove Symantec to replace it with BSOD-proof Microsoft Security Essentials:

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product | Norton Support

    www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Attaching your most recent crash dump read + your current list of drivers:

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: fffff8a0040a703e, memory referenced
    Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
    Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :
    	bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff80003375901, address which referenced memory

well what ever i installed didn't work now win7 won't even load :s

i guess i'll rip it apart and try to recover some data and format everything and start from scratch again

any idea why all of a sudden after several months of not missing a beat it goes and shits itself??

---> Old drivers, update them as soon as you reinstall the system:

    Use MSE.

If crashes reoccur, attach the newest crash dumps

backup and running in normal mode for now with no problems as yet

i booted from win 7 disk and repaired and that has seemed to fix it as i don't think i properly updated the drivers you listed as i couldn't find them online anywhere

i've got my external hard drives and webcam unplugged currently and will try plugging them back in and see what happens

    thanks for your help

yep i've been to all those sites yesterday to look for what you said to update but i couldn't see anything i needed and i installed something that i thought was right from the marvell site and then i couldn't even get to safe mode after that so i won't be doing that again now that its running fine

i've done a check in my device manager and have gone through everything in there and all are up-to-date drivers except one which it updated

could i have got a virus and it effected some of the drivers to the all of a sudden start doing BSOD? because i was thiking back to what happened just before it BSODed and i had downloaded a dodgy file that same day

    thanks jamie

I doubt it was a virus, just Symantec doesn't like old drivers.

I can help you update those drivers but not all at once. First, let's do Marvell, go to Marvell: Support and choose your platform (OS) and Marvell ID number --> which you can find in windows device manager by right clicking on your Marvell device.

i've been through every part of the details tab but can't find a number that looks like the 88E#### in the drop down menu on the marvell site

Ok, then what is the name of your Marvell as it appears in the device manager?

Download these two drivers from your motherboard support site.
